Driving Cultural Change to
Destigmatize Mental Health
Breaking the stigma associated with mental health is paramount to creating meaningful, positive impact on the growing global mental health crisis. That is why we have developed several important initiatives that will be launched and integrated into culture at large, creating a butterfly effect recognized around the world.
Building on our commitment to change, ONE HUMANITY Foundation is proud to introduce three groundbreaking initiatives designed to resonate with and unite people from all walks of life while addressing the biggest issue of our human generation.
Each of our initial initiatives is a step towards our vision of a world where mental health is openly supported and universally nurtured.

A New Symbol for Mental Health:
The Butterfly
Supported by a global coalition of organizations, ONE HUMANITY Foundation will launch the butterfly as the new international symbol for mental health awareness.
The butterfly will serve as a powerful symbol for mental health awareness symbolizing transformation, resilience, and unity. The butterfly is not only a beacon of hope and change for global mental health but also a vivid representation of the diverse tapestry of human thoughts and emotions.
The symbolism behind the butterfly is multifaceted with the intent to resonate with our greater humanity while establishing a graphical narrative of transformation, unity, and resilience.
Hands Together, Hearts United: A Silent Message of Solidarity
Hands Together, Hearts United:
A Silent Message of Solidarity
Hand signs, like the universally recognized peace sign, hold a unique power to transcend language and cultural barriers, conveying clear and potent messages without the need for words. These gestures offer a universal language that can instantly connect people by expressing common human experiences and emotions, fostering solidarity and understanding.
To advance our mental health awareness mission and integrate the conversation into global culture, we are introducing the butterfly hand sign as a symbol to serve as a powerful, silent reminder of the mental health challenges many face.
The hand sign is already recognized by the American Sign Language Association as the universal sign for the butterfly, two hands coming together, painting a silent tale of metamorphosis and interconnectedness.
Integrating this sign into global culture is crucial for fostering an environment of understanding and support. By recognizing and sharing the butterfly hand sign, we can break the stigma surrounding mental health, encourage open conversations, and ensure that those affected feel seen and supported.
Together we can create a more compassionate world where mental well-being is prioritized and discussed openly

Global Mental Health Awareness Month
The month of May has been recognized as Mental Health Awareness Month in the United States since 1949 when it was first established by non-profit Mental Health America. But while over an estimated 1 billion people on Earth suffer from mental health issues, there has never been a globally-recognized month for mental health awareness.
ONE HUMANITY Foundation seeks to take the mission globally by launching the month of May as the new globally-recognized month for Mental Health Awareness, which will also be known as ‘The Butterfly Month’.
Every May, the Butterfly will rise not just as a symbol for mental health, but as a dynamic sign of enduring transformation. To make a meaningful impact on the mental health crisis, the Foundation will seek to spotlight Global Mental Health Awareness Month by integrating it into the fabric of global culture.
By interweaving the butterfly symbol and sign for mental health into the worlds of sports and entertainment, gaming and digital culture, fashion, and more, we will create and stimulate a new mental health movement fostered by open dialogue, mutual understanding, and a shared commitment to address mental health and neurodiversity at large.
Serving as a “Foundation of Foundations”, we will seek to support and fund not only our own initiatives but also partner foundations and organizations that are making a significant and measurable impact on the mental health crisis that require greater resources to expand their services.
